What a month! With extra Grandma duties, writing tasks and conferences, birthdays, and graduations, this site was neglected. I still have one more wedding and writing conference for the summer, but I WILL make time to update regularly!
Being able to spend time with grandchildren who live far away is always a treasure. We were able to visit the grandsons over Memorial Day weekend, and for an entire week in June I home-schooled my granddaughters and did all the fun grandma activities like trips to the local pool and library We read a LOT of Mo Willems that week! Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs seemed to be the favorite.
On a disappointing note, Sparkles from Silence didn’t make it to the final round of the Genesis contest. The good that comes from that? I received highly helpful comments that have already improved the opening.
Which brings me to a question: those of you who have read the excerpts of Sparkles from Silence, what did you find endearing? What did you find boring? Does the story pull at your heart strings from the first page, or does it move too slowly for your taste?
Expect Excerpt 7 next week, and feel free to share your opinions with me.
